Grand National Channel

Aintree Grand National TV Channel

The 2013 Grand National at Aintree will be shown live on Channel 4 for the very first time with the race starting at 4.15pm on Saturday, 6th April. The race has traditionally be shown on the BBC but they have decided to cut racing from their schedule which has allowed Channel 4 Racing to take over the coverage for the first time. Channel 4 have already made it perfectly clear that they will be putting everything they have into the Grand National meeting this year with the eyes of the sport likely to be on them.

Clare Balding will be at the head affairs for channel 4 on the big days and that includes the Grand National this season. She has plenty of experience of the race working for the BBC and regular National viewers will no doubt be pleased to see her back on their screens. Channel 4 do have a lot to live up to though with the BBC raking in the viewers in 2012 when Neptune Collonges got up to win and it will be fascinating to see how the viewing figures stack up in 2013.

The Grand National will also be available live on Racing UK which is a subscription channel for the regular racing fan out there. The vast majority of fans will be tuning in for the world's biggest steeplechase on Channel 4 who will be hoping that their first time covering the race goes off without a hitch.
