Horse Racing TV Presenters - Lydia Hislop

Lydia Hislop is one the main presenters of Horse Racing coverage on Racing UK and is a hugely experienced racing journalist and having worked on TV for a number of stations is a regular on our RUK screens. Hislop has had stints for the BBC, Channel 4 and the old Racing Channel before moving to Racing UK at its inception in 2004. Hislop is used both in the studio on Racing UK as well as being out on course for the meetings; she is a versatile presenter who is not afraid to give her opinion which makes her an engaging host.

It has to be said that Hislop is no stranger to controversy with her recent spat with A P McCoy leading the Champion jockey to boycott Racing UK as a whole, the Sports Personality of the Year will no longer speak to anyone from the Channel after Hislop criticised one of his rides. Hislop made some comments about McCoy's ride on Get Me Out Of Here at Ascot in October, he went off well backed but could only manage 7th place with AP reporting that when squeezed Get Me Out Of Here showed him nothing. McCoy took offence to the comments made by Lydia Hislop along with Steve Mellish and so far he has refused to relent on his boycott of the channel.

Hislop is also a regular host of the Mark Your Card show on a Saturday morning where along with a colleague she has shown herself as more than capable of going through the days racing and picking out one or two winners along the way. Mark Your Card is a key show for RUK on a Saturday with punters looking for some advice before making their bets for the day and Hislop carries that well.

Hislop has worked for a number of newspapers during her career including the Racing Post, the Times and the Independent among others and that experience is her main strength on Racing UK. Her opinions and style translates well to a newspaper column as well as on screen and for the time being at least it appears that Hislop will be a main stay on RacingUK.
